A
topper’s tale generally talks about the vital elements of
winning strategies with an eye for self-kudos. Dr. Ruchi Dodani [RxBDS username:
prettysmile] is from Bhopal
and graduated as B.D.S from Modern Dental College and research center
Indore in March 2006. An ardent user of RxBDS
she secured Rank 1 in Madhya Pradesh Dental PG Entrance Exam 2006 and attributes part of her success to our site, RxBDS.
This interview, in her own words, “is more about failures and
one spectacular success as someone has rightly remarked that failures
are the stepping stones to success.”
Editor:
What do you think as instrumental in your success in M.P Dental Post
Graduation Entrance exam?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
There are myriad of factors responsible; to sum up
God's grace, family's support and encouragement, planned studies,
hard work, inner motivation can be cited as the main factors to carry
oneself along the pulls and pushes requires strong inner motivation
should come from within. My friends in RxBDS
(Akil, Hesh and Atreja)
were a strong source of push to me without which this would have not
been possible. I would also like to mention my thanks all my teachers
in modern dental college where I was taught and also the teachers and
seniors of Govt Dental College where I did my internship.
Editor:

Editor:
Did you take up any courses for PG preparation? Can you add a note
about them, if any?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
Yes , I had taken up Coaching for few medical subjects
from Dr. Prashant (M.D-Pharmacology),And took vidyasagar
correspondance coaching which helped me to maintain a pace in my
studies .
Good books, right guidance and God’s grace do matters..
Editor:
What is the strategy that you adopted for PG preparation?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
Well I will say, I focused on some important aspects
which I say may be helpful for upcoming candidates . Every candidates must do his/her
SWOT analysis i.e their Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to honestly assess themselves.
Stength -which comes from your hard work. Pray to God or elders and that
may be the catalytic factor in your success.
Weakness-I
focused more on conceptual clarity rather than trying to
intellectualize the exam. Which I discovered as my weakness through
these exams .
Opportunities
-I did take all possible exams which helped me to mock and thereby
strengthen my preparation
Threats -which were circumstances which do hinder everyone in some way or
the other
Luck
does play a role and it only comes into play after the hard work
.
Editor:
Your book shelf for your preparation.
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
The standard theory text books complemented by an array
of MCQ books including but not limited to Dental Pulse,
Gaurishankar's Basic and Clinical review, Bhatia, Mudit Khanna, Amit
Ashish, SARP series and previous papers of AIIMS and AIDPG.
I
sincerely prepared for 8 months during which I promised my self that
I wont think of the result and only focus on preparation.
Editor:
Your word for the PG aspirants in particular.
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
“Winners don't do different things, but
they do the things differently"- these lines appearing
in the Preface of Shiv Khera's Book "You Can Win" touch the
very fathom of success or failure in life. There are no roses always
strewn on the path of those moving towards their goal in life;
instead the thorns in the way is the biggest truth of life. I never
agree with those who think failure s synonymous with lick. Every
sweat of your brow through hard work bears the splendour of your
bright career and this ensures your Golden Tomorrow. Those who keep
faith in their capabilities, shape their future with their own
deeds..
Editor:
MP state Entrance marked almost the end of the exam session for the
year. In what way did the previous exam experiences help you prepare
for MP entrance?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
This is the most important thing which I would like to
share. I had a attitude of “Now or Never” since I knew
that this is going to be last exam for this year. For
M.P State Entrance Exam Preparation I made a list of topics to be
read, then gave them priority based on their importance and started
from the top giving due time to each of them. This helped me save
time. I feel, wide extensive study should be followed by selective
intensive study.
Editor:
Can you describe what you usually used to do on the eve of the exam?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
One day before the exam I was relaxing and tried to
keep my calm . I took 8 hours tight undisturbed sleep ,I took the
exam in a lighter mood as if I am giving my mock test .. no
expectations only best from my self ..
Coming
back I tried to recall the questions which helped me to assess my
self and did post 140 Questions in RxBDS so that It could be open for
discussions and be beneficial for future generation .. There is no
such book which is published which has previous years papers. This was
my first attempt so did not have any idea of the pattern of the
questions. It is very well said “Charity
begins at home “ I tried to recall the questions in RxBDS and
will suggest you too to do that so that future generations should not
be suffering from this dilemma”
Editor:
What was your stress buster strategy?
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
Pre-Exam period was a self less sleep which u can say a
dream less sleep .. which helped me to calm my self I tried to take
it as a usual day I did take light breakfast took blessings from my
parents and my small niece too , and post exam period was end of my
struggle for the year till result ..
Editor:
What is your opinion on role of internet in PG preparation.
Dr. Ruchi Dodani:
Definitely internet discussions helps in connecting
minds world wide It definitely helped me in updating my self ,My
solved my doubts by putting open for discussions which helped me to
open my thoughts .. SUGGESTIONS : More discussions should be
encouraged and more people should participate in it openly ..
“Knowledge increases more you spread” ..
Editor:
