Dr Himanshu Kantilal kanungoo [RxBDS user name – himanshu-01],native
place ujjain,an alumnus of Government College Dentistry
Q: Congratulations on your success. Can you brief us on your
road to success?
Dr. Himanshu:
I passed my graduation on 31 march 2005 (graduation year)and since then, AIDPG 2005 Rank 125, MP 2005-Rank 07, AIDPG 2006-Rank
01.
Q: Did you undertake any courses for PG preparation? Can you add
a note on your stint there?
Dr. Himanshu:
I joined a local test series (7 tests and I was topper
in 5 of them!) The test series was conducted by Dr. Manoj Upadhyaya MDS (Prosthodontics).
Q: What do you think as instrumental in your success in AIDPG?
Dr. Himanshu: Consistent hard work was the key to my success. I paid
more stress on theory, which really helped me to build up concepts. My ever
supporting, loving, caring mom, dad and my two elder brothers and both of my
sisters in law . Above all, thanks to Almighty Mahakal (Lord Shiva).
Q:
In what way did
your alma mater inspire you to success?
Dr. Himanshu:
I would like to mention my thanks all my teachers, my
seniors, my friends, my batch mates, my juniors for their support. Being in Govt. Dental College helped helped
because every year I have seniors getting selected including topper Dr. Rolly 1st rank aipg
2003 . It was very inspiring for me.
Q: You had to take time off for this second attempt of the exam
sessions. How did you react to your first attempt when you could not get a seat.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is matter of choice”.It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved
!
“khudi ko kar buland itana ke khuda bande khud pooche bata thari
raja kya hai”(Translation: "Be so strong that even God asks the disciple, “Say
what do u wish?”)
Q: Stepbacks teach us our mistakes. After a near miss in AIDPG
2005 what were the changes for your second attempt?
Dr. Himanshu:
I didn't study well especially before my first attempt
(in internship). I got Rank: 125 due to hard work during 4th professional, the
strong theory. and sound fundamentals. During 2nd attempt it was "study,
study, study, no movies, no waste of time". Well....I paid attention both
to theory and objectives, but relatively more to theory, which he ultimately
helped me !!
Q: How was the time lag between the 2005 exams and 2006 exams
spent? Any locum or house jobs?
Dr. Himanshu:
Only preparation after may 2005 up to aidpg 2006. Joined
house-job in Endodontics after Jan 06 in my college…
Q: Can you describe the last lap of your preparation?
Dr. Himanshu: I had finished my course 2 months before exam
,revised the course through my notes which I made and solved papers using
them as mock test with time limit, answer sheets and calculation of marks) ,7
days before exam I was relaxing myself to cool down myself and to control my anxiety.
Q: The wide experience is that Exam means stress so what was your
strategy to deal with it in the pre exam time.
Dr. Himanshu:
Just cut down your studies at zero hour and relax a
bit. Take good diet (high protein) and it is most important to have a sound sleep
and no anti anxiety drugs. They may cause “retrograde
amnesia”

during preparation .if you have started give your everything most important is
prepare time table and then follow it (following time table is more important and

Internet Forums are useful to supplement and
