Optimal Esthetics 2006

The Live Demonstration of was  held from 24 February 2006 – 26 February 2006 at NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

A joint venture of ‘Team Atlanta’ comprising of the likes of Dr. Ronal Goldstein, Dr. David Garber, Dr. Maurice Salama and Global Dentech headed by Dr Shirish Kulkarni had been planned and targeted for an audience ranging from young enthusiastic newcomers to the renowned and acknowledged veterans in dentistry and well appreciated by the elite as well as the newbie’s in unison.

"Optimal Esthetics-2006" The On screen demonstration of Clinical Procedures complemented with Interactive lectures by the experts in process with a large gathering listening in rapt attention.

The stage was set at the NCPA , Nariman point , Mumbai with a 60 foot wide screen awaiting an enthralled audience, especially designed and created to give the attendees a close-up view of each live procedure and surgery.

The event started in a melodramatic manner with a laser show and smoke effects which was in coordination with the theme of the entire event … to portray the latest interventions and procedures in today world of dentistry followed by the felicitation and introduction of TEAM ATLANTA given by Dr. Glenn Mascarenhas and the welcome speech by Dr. Sharmila Kulkarni.

The event stood upto its agenda of “ 3 days with 3 acknowledged world class Giants in dental esthetics, Implants and bone regeneration”

A section of India's largest conference facility was transformed into a dental operatory overnight on 23rd for the conference and aimed at 6 interactive programs and 7 live surgical demonstration spread over 3 days of extensive CDE.

Day one i.e. 24th saw the trio’s analogy on ‘From Solo to symphony’ launched chiefly by Dr Goldstein, which emphasised the need for an interdisciplinary and holistic approach to obtain the best esthetic results which marked the beginning of the conference.

Live procedures on Cosmetic Contouring and Composite Bonding which encompassed the Basic Principles of Smile design by Dr Ronald Goldstein were the event scheduled for the day. Each demonstration followed an interactive secession in which the audience participated in full zest to improve their artistic proficiency. Dr Graber and Dr. Salama interacted continuously with the audience during the entire procedure.

Day two i.e. on 25th Feb 2006 saw DR. Garber’s’ expertise on Crowns and Veneers followed by Dr. Salama on Crown Lengthening and Gingevectomy.

 The first two days saw Extreme Smile makeovers by the ‘Team Atlanta’ in patients with esthetics needs with prior case selection and study of models and radiographs. Also this day saw the Banquet at the Taj presidency which had its own share of surprises, tricks and treats.

Day three i.e. 26th Dr. Salama conducted the grand finale on Ridge augmentation for pontic sites and Implant placement on a patient with two missing anterior teeth, in about 90 minutes of clinical time and Immediate Temporization, following which the patient was all smiles in front of an audience of thousands of impressed dentists.

Finally the closing was with a vote of thanks given to the speakers and the organizers and the appreciation of the Indian dentists by the speakers who were mighty impressed at the efforts taken to organize and conduct such an event in such a wide prospectus and for the first time ever in India.

This event with a ‘difference’ broke the trend of the monologue which was persistent till date in the usual conferences held in our country.

The truth and importance of Interdisciplinary Approach had been evident 24/7 during the entire 3 day session. Team effort and synchronization was the Key to their success.

The participant over three day have learned to recognize potential cases for the smile design procedure and also to how to incorporate Periodontics , Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and Oral Surgery within the realms of Smile Design.

The trio explained the working of Team Atlanta “We comprise of a team of 11 dentist and 1 physician along with 45 other dentists, 5 hygienists, 2 surgical assistants, managing around 110-115 patients / day. It is possible for us to give quality care to our patients under one roof. In addition to this we are also involved in clinical research and teaching young enthusiastic dentists”
